I’m really in the mood for gothic manors, candlelight, yearning, vampires, ghosts.. I love that kind of atmosphere. I just want the door left.. open.
Some examples I really enjoyed that just lack \*spice\* –
*Carmilla* by J Sheridan Le Fanu
*House of Hunger* by Alexis Henderson
*The Last Tale of the Flower Bride* by Roshani Chokshi
*The Death of Jane Lawrence* by Caitlin Starling (admittedly more horror than romance)
I read *Master of Salt & Bones* by Keri Lake, but I really didn’t like it. I don’t like huge age gaps – especially between barely legal women and much older men. Would also like to avoid non-con situations.
Especially into historical settings, but open to modern as well.
