I’m usually a fantasy, sci-fi, and historical fiction reader, but as you all know, those genres tend to contain particularly large books and series. For the last few years, I’ve picked a different genre as my “palate cleanser” between big series for the year (horror, classics, and thrillers have been my last 3). This year I’m excited to dabble in some mystery novels! I know Michael Connelly, CJ Box, Greg Iles, and Dennis Lehane are names that are fairly popular in the genre. I’m not too familiar with literary mysteries, but for a short background on my personal tastes: ‘True Detective’ is a top-5 TV show of mine, and Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Jackie Brown’, and ‘Reservoir Dogs’ are both in my top-10 movies (I think those qualify as more suspense/thriller, but there are some mystery elements!) Any recommendations are appreciated!
