Hi all,
I’m in the long and slow process of putting together a library focused on exploration and expeditions. I’m looking for books on the topic. Some that I’ve gone through so far:
The Lost City of the Monkey God
The Invention of Nature (Alexander von Humboldt’s New World)
The Voyage of the Beagle
Jungleland
Into the Planet
Into Africa
Turn Right at Machu Picchu
King Solomon’s Mines
Lawrence in Arabia
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Congo
South
The Lost World
And various others
Open to both fiction and nonfiction, and obscure and niche is exactly what I’m looking for! I want stories from a diversity of perspectives and people, not just highly British-centric as so many seem to be.
Generally I’m not looking for stories that are primarily about militaries or wars, but things like Lawrence in Arabia for some reason really worked for me.
Thanks!
