So to create the foundation for a frame of reference, I’m looking for something like Halo, but from lack of a better way to put it, something a bit more deep. Actually a more obscure game that perfectly encapsulates what I’m looking for, is Marathon by Bungie. Here is kind of quick summary.\[Especially in case you don’t know what either is\]

Marine on a ship in space. Wake up to be under attack by aliens. On your ship are 3 AI for different reasons, all with very strong personalities. AI rampancy effects one, aliens rebuild the other, and one stays the same. For broad stroke purposes it’s a war, the AI pick sides for whatever reason but have their own personal reasons for doing what they do.

What made it stand above the rest was a few things I’m hoping the suggestions will incorporate:

The AI were extremely well written personalities, especially when in the grandiosity stage. Not only were they well-written themselves but their interactions with each others. Fears, grudges, attempted retributions. I don’t mind ship to ship combat, but I would prefer if a majority of it was boots on the ground. I’m not necessarily looking for some deep psychological space thriller, but personally the AI personalities is what I feel will make or break it for me. I think it takes a very intelligent writer to not only comprehend but communicate an AI character who almost makes you feel small, like a cog in their machine. Like you settle for one as an ally cause they’re all you have maybe. The aliens themselves I’m not too picky. I would prefer they be intelligent rather than primitive but I can be persuaded.
