My two fav series when I was growing up were inkheart and fablehaven. I’ve recently reread them because I was slacking on reading so I knew I would enjoy those. And honestly I’ve enjoyed rereading them so much! Even tho they’re children’s books they don’t treat the reader like a dumbass and still have intense themes and amazing character development. (I would compare to how adults love to read Harry Potter but jk Rowling sucks)
I’m 22 and it’s been hard to get into adult fiction because so much of it feels pretentious and like they’re trying so hard. But also I’m just not into the young adult genre because I don’t want to read about 16 year olds.
And this is gonna make me sound like a prude but cussing and sex scenes where it doesn’t make sense turns me off. Like I have enjoyed smut books but if I want to read a normal book I’m not trying to have that shoved in my face!
If anyone has authors they can recommend I would so appreciate
