I’m looking for books in which the POV character is of less than sound mind, especially if he / she is subject to occasional hallucinations, whether they know it or not, or has an otherwise skewed view of the world.
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk comes to mind.
VALIS by Philip K. Dick is a favorite.
The Shining by Stephen King is in there.
American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis to an extent.
