You know the type.
Our protagonist is a noble (or perhaps ignoble) thief, murderer, arsonist, illicit magical girl, etc., etc.
Our antagonist is a genius, eccentric, somewhat troubled detective with a penchant for speed and a perfect record.
Throw ’em together (in a big city, or a small town) and voila! There’s a recipe for a gripping novel/short story/narrative poem.
This quite literally my favorite trope; I, in fact, made a Reddit account just to gush about it. I love the Akechis and the Ls and the Porfiry Petrovichs of the world with all of my heart (if that comparison is unapt for the latter, I apologize; I started on Crime and Punishment recently and am unsure if he fits the bill).
Any books that fit this description other than Crime and Punishment?
