I’m currently on a trip & there are good bookstores so I’m looking for some titles to check out. I’ve got specific things I’m after in terms of form and vibe, so anyone able to point me in the right direction would be fab!

FICTION: After spending a long time doing poetry and nonfiction, I’ve finally harassed a friend into editing a novel I’ve been working on. And so I’m looking for some stuff I can check out as possible ways of approaching the parts of it I’m finding fiddly. Which is to say, literary/experimental fiction (preferably the latter) that moves between voices and modes of address fluidly; things that explore the idea of (performed) violence and bodies in extremis

NON-FICTION: I have a habit of keeping lots of projects on the back burner and I’ve had a vague CNF idea in my head since summer. So I’m basically looking for stuff that’s fluid with form, and somewhat self aware of its own construction (I’ve read a lot of stuff like Maggie Nelson)

POETRY: She’s always been a poet at heart and I just miss reading and writing it! So just any contemporary poetry that does interesting things with language; collections with a wide range of preoccupations but that aren’t like overlong/bloated. I guess for vague themes I’ve been thinking about: our relationship to landscape; ekphrastic writing; haunting/hauntology. Oh, and prose poetry! I’ve read Rankine but dunno where to go next

    Thanks so much!
