I have aphantasia, I have no “mind’s eye”. I cannot stand when authors spend paragraphs or pages “painting pictures” because to me this just feels like a waste of time. To this end, I have enjoyed graphic novels and reading plays more than I have usually enjoyed reading traditional novels.
I’ve also found Vonnegut to be extremely readable.
My favourite books tend to be a bit weirder. I loved the ideas and format weirdness of House of Leaves. I love Stanislaw Lem’s shortform stuff (can’t do the novels) like Star Diaries. I love the idea of Gravity’s Rainbow but I found it basically unreadable. Basically a weird, surreal, or absurd idea that is explored in a thought provoking way is what I’m into.

You might like Ted Chiang’s stories, from what I remember he usually doesn’t spend much time on long descriptive prose, and he definitely likes exploring weird ideas. [Exhalation](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41160292-exhalation) and [Stories of Your Life and Others](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/223380.Stories_of_Your_Life_and_Others) are both good collections.
