This year I’ve been expanding some of my reading to books translated into English (I only speak and read English), and I have been really enjoying the way authors whose native language isn’t English tell stories. And I’m curious if people have favs they could share!
Some of my favorite authors this year have been Sayaka Murata and Helene Tursten. Completely different genres but I know I am just scratching the surface of the stories I could be enjoying.
I’d love to read your favorites too. I enjoy fantasy, crime fiction, transgressive fiction, magic realism. Just to give you an idea. But anything is welcome. Please share!
NOTE: I am looking for contemporary books. I know Tolstoy, Kafka, and Homer et al were translated.
