I’m looking for this oddly specific scenario:
The FMC and MMC have an (academic) rivals type of relationship were they’re used to bickering back and forth all the time (I want the tension from that hate-love dynamic).
But one day the MMC unknowingly takes it too far. (Can be by making fun of her about something that’s a touchy subject for her, a comment that’s triggering to her because of her trauma, etc.)
So the FMC freezes up and goes numb, and starts ignoring him and acting indifferent towards everything, because she’s absolutely destroyed by this one comment/action.
He of course, never meaning to truly hurt her doesn’t know what happened or why she was so affected by it, but he does absolutely everything in his power to make her feel better because it pains him to se her like that.
