I just finished The Housemaid by Freida McFadden and really enjoyed it. I finished the last two hundred pages in one sitting which is quite unusually for me!
I just have one major question which I might be overlooking the answer to because it’s 3am here – when Millie is locked in the attic and she can lock the door from the outside – why wouldn’t her key work from the inside? I imagined when they talked about locking the door from the outside that it was a bolt or something, but she specifically locks the door with a key. Why wouldn’t that work from the inside to get out? Nina makes a big deal of giving her the key so it must be important?
Your help is appreciated!
