When one of the protagonist dies, in my opinion, the story becomes way better. You are more deeply connected and after finishing, that smudge is always there wherein you wanted the character to live but life doesn’t work that way.
The endings don’t necessarily have to be sad but a happy ending with an element of grieve takes a different turn. You keep wanting for more but also know that it’s the end.
In the starting when a character dies, to be honest it hardly feels like losing a connection because it wasn’t established at the first place itself.
What are your opinions on this? Which type of book would you prefer?
