I just finished reading No Longer Human, was for too long on list.
The books itself is presented as a found diary by this young lad, Yozo Aba. The presentation itself helps me to look past some of the times where it feels a bit draggy so to say.
My favourite part from the book was, the drunk game of antonyms.
The way we get to experience alienation and depression, at times if I am reading one of my journal entries, more refined though.
Probably the social anxiety themes are the ones that clicked the most with me.
I’m interested in more post-war Japanese fiction now.
Further on, I am planning to read the manga based on this book, more of Osamu Dazai’s work. Watch all The Human Condition trilogy and read Ayako(manga).
Maybe some of you can recommend me more similar stuff. Even other works of Japanese fiction are welcome.
