I am going through a deep depression, my life is very sad and I don’t have the energy to do anything. I don’t find joy out of life, even recreational activities feel pointless.

The only silver lining has been the Yukito Ayatsuji mystery books translated by Pushkin Vertigo. They are from the 1980s but only recently translated into English.

Yes I’ve read the other works like the Kindiachi books but these Murder house books are the only ones that work for me. I walk around with The Mill House Murders because looking at it is the only thing that brings me joy, or at least makes me feel okay.

I read the first one (Decagon House Murders) and waited until May for the sequel. Apparently there is a whole lot of these books about houses built by Nakamura Seiji and seeing the connectivity made me more excited. All day the only thing exciting me is the idea of another translation then I found this:

Despite being very short and have like ten more books to go through, the third one won’t be translated until October of NEXT YEAR. I have nothing in my life until then, I feel like a zombie just waiting for it. But I can’t just ignore the entire year, there is so much in the way until then there is no point in wasting energy being excited.

But why? These books have been out since the 1980s. Why is there a gap of 17 months between books? Is there a way to speed it up? Can I complain to Vertigo or is there some other translation available.

I why is translating a fairly simple book with simple language so hard?
