2024 is coming up in 2 weeks and I figured I’d need to stock up on my stack of books to read. I would love to hear what everyone is going to read as their first book of the year and why they’re choosing that book.
I’ve asked for suggestions in r/suggestmeabook too, but figured it would be interesting to hear the different kinds of books everyone is thinking of and if there is a new year reading tradition anyone has, such as reading a self help book as a first, or a happy book, or something inspiring, etc.
For the past few years, I’ve felt that the first book I read in a year sort of foretells/manifests how my year would turn out to be. Important, unique plot points from these stories also happened in my life the same year I had read them. And in hindsight it seems like some sort of manifestation and it sure sounds dubious and like a huge stretch. I am not superstitous at all but I wonder if anyone here takes extra care about what you read first in a new year?
