Hey y’all! I want to read some fantasy/magical realism books but within specific parameters.
I’m looking for a book within the magical realism subgenre (I assume that’s the proper title of genre I’m speaking of) that has just 1 – 2 magical elements but otherwise feels very realistic. The “magic” should either be accepted as possible phenomenon within the world but only actionable by select people OR be a societal aspect that’s labeled as a “if you know, then you know” kind of thing. *Ideally*, if you were to remove the magical element, the book would become a compelling piece of realistic fiction. The magic/magic system just is the fresh, juicy cherry on top.
Additional parameters:
* *Must* be young adult that skews older, new adult or adult.
* *Preferably* a standalone work.
* *Must* be around 400 or less pages.
