I have two boys, ages 3 and 5, and we like to read chapter books at bedtime. I am trying to find books that appeal to both kids and are interesting for me (although I’m the least important part of this equation).
Some things they both have loved are Magic Treehouse, Mr. Popper’s Penguins, and Hardy Boys. We’re currently reading My Father’s Dragon. Books we’ve had to abandon include Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Ogress and the Orphans. I don’t think the little one is ready for The Hobbit or The Phantom Tollbooth yet.
I’d love recommendations of standalone books or short series to give me a break between the adventures of Jack and Annie and Frank and Joe.
