Growing up, I was fascinated by ancient Roman Empire, and later loved the tv show Rome and anything similar.
Any good reads of fiction or semi-fiction set in that era? Could be around Roman politics, empire expansion, resistances, etc.
Thanks in advance.

_I, Claudius_ and _Claudius the God_ by Robert Graves. The BBC miniseries is also worth a watch, with Derek Jacobi, John Hurt, Brian Blessed, Patrick Stewart… the talent is endless.
Technically, Graves’ Count Belisarius_ is also set during the Roman Empire – the Eastern Roman Empire, under Emperor Justinian; Belisarius was the general Justinian sent to reconquer the West.
The author [Lindsey Davis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindsey_Davis) has written many historical novels, and mysteries(!) set in ancient Rome.
The Roma Sub Rosa series by Steven Saylor.
