I need a book for women. Something with a woman protagonist who is not perfect(no girl boss slay queen bullshit) , struggling but she perseveres and achieves a good life for herself.
No romance though. No rape survivor or any such trauma.

Inés of my Soul by Isabelle Allende. I think you could call it quasi-historical fiction. The story is the novelized version of a historical figure (Inés Suárez) who fled from Spain to South America during the colonial times and inadvertently ends up participating in the conquest of Chile.
Warning tho, the novel is brutal because it narrates all of the awful stuff the europeas did to the amerindians and what they did back to the colonizers.
