      * Some of these do have a little romance, but it’s more background. I would not class any of these a romance books. It’s very hard to find YA books with no romance/relationships (I’m not a big fan of myself)*

Give “will save the galaxy for food”
It’s poking fun at pulp scify with some hilarious use and subversion of tropes, ||including the romance trope||. If you’re sick of the forced romance nonsense go for it.

    3. Sabriel, Lirael and The Abhorson by Garth Nix.

The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley.

Catfishing on Catnet by Naomi Kritzer.

    4. ‘Eleanor & Park’ by Rainbow Rowell is a young adult romance that captures the sweetness and intensity of first love. Set in the 1980s, it’s a story about two misfits finding solace and understanding in each other, and I always find it utterly authentic and touching.
