I don’t think I have ever read the same book twice ever..I really like reading from physical books (not an audiobook person) and the selection at the local library is not that great (I still go quite often). I think when I am done with books from now on, I might just donate them but is that a waste a money if you are not going to actually “own” the book long term? I still feel I got something out of reading the book, though. The experience.

I’ve been known to sell mine on eBay or whatever
I think if you pass the book on, such as donating or giving to friends/family, then it’s not silly at all. You’re putting money into the book industry, having a reading experience, then hopefully getting the book to someone else who will enjoy it.
You can trade books so you won’t really waste anything.
No. It’s not silly.
I like having physical media regardless of how many times I read/watch them.
If you want to donate them then do so. As long as you are happy with it, it doesn’t really matter.
They’re trophies – my physical books are, anyway. I have over 2000, and more than half are signed.
Books can be keepsakes of an experience, art objects, gifts to pass on to loved ones, or donations to other book lovers. So to me, buying them is never a waste—although, depending on your budget, they may be an indulgence! But we all need one.
I often re-read books, so I’m not the one to help you!
