Looking for book recs for my 10 year old nephew. He lives in Montana but hardly steps foot outside. I’d like to get him a read (nonfiction or fiction) that will inspire him to put the controller down and get outside and explore!
Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat. A Canadian naturalist studies wolves in the Canadian wilderness.
Any essay collection by John Gierach. Ie. Standing in a river waving a stick

oh show him the movie the page master it really inspires young readers and its a great movie, i also advise books with video games as a topic it will inspire more reading in the future, and then you can work in more outdoorsy books like the hatchet

Reluctant readers are a challenge. I might do a graphic novel, like the [Lumberjanes](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22554204-lumberjanes-vol-1?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_11). I have, with other families, brought over a copy and when the kiddo is around mentioned that I wasn’t sure they were ready for it yet, and then left it behind. Not sure that really increases the chance the little fish will bite, but my success rate has been pretty good

Dog Man, Bunny Vs Monkey, Captain Underpants are all comic book novels with. It much reading really. Might get him in to reading a bit. Also Diary of a Wimpy Kid. My 9 year old loves them. Inspire him to read first off. If he currently neither reads or goes outside you are unlikely to get both at once.
