Hey everyone, it’s been so long since I’ve been captivated by a fiction book and I’m trying to break that streak. Looking back I think the last time was when the Harry Potter series was popular lol, before that was Where The Red Fern Grows. I loved the sense of adventure in both.
Suggest me a book with just one criteria: a fiction book that first comes to mind where you remember not being able to put it down, regardless of genre. Hoping to do a book haul tonight and would love to get some ideas from you all, TIA!

Suspense/thriller: Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent (woman’s “strange” response to her father’s death brings her out into the world in both good and bad ways) and None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell (podcaster discovers ever more sinister things about an acquaintance-turned-subject)
Horror: Black River Orchard by Chuck Wendig (cults and demons), The Reformatory by Tananarive Due (ghosts), and Lone Women by Victor LaValle (western)
Also one of my favorite reads of the past few years is the Scholomance trilogy by Naomi Novik

the winnowing i havent read in many years so i dont really remember the reading level, but i remember i never put it down
the giver has a dystopian-esque plot. its not super duper dystopian but it is!! its a short read and the end can be up for interpretation
i cried reading life on the refrigerator door and the fault in our stars. both very touching and sad. lotrd is a very short read! i def recommend

[The Wayward Children series](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayward_Children)by Seanan McGuire…there’s quite a few, but one of the main plot points is there are doors to alternate dimensions that can appear when you need them most. The only criteria before opening one: Be Sure.
