I’m looking for something REALLY niche, I know. zombie apocalypse books (Prefarably a series) with doorstopping lengths (or at least not under 400 – 500 pages) that have politics (maybe survivor politics, politics within new colonies or survivor bases) thrown into them.

Prefarably post apocalyptic, not books that follow the early apocalypse. Think if GoT and something like TLOU had a baby. I’m aware this probably doesn’t exist, but you miss every chance you don’t take so I might as well ask.

    1. World War Z. It isn’t door stopping length. But it is so deep in the politics, mental aspect etc. It dives deep into the darker side of people.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth, The Dead-Tossed Waves and The Dark and Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan. Individually they’re not as long as you’d like, but together they’re over 1000 pages. The civilisations that have sprung up post-apocalypse are really interesting – cults, religions, militia, etc. However, it is aimed at young adults so not as gnarly as GoT/TLOU.

The Reapers Are the Angels by Alden Bell. Follows a young girl named Temple going through a decaying America. It definitely goes into the politics of a shattered society but is more about survival and morality.

    4. If psychological horror is what sends shivers down your spine, ‘The Shining’ by Stephen King is the book for you. The isolated setting and the descent into madness are masterfully portrayed, making it an exemplary study in building suspense and a sense of claustrophobic horror.
