I have been looking into high quality printing presses recently, in part searching for a nice edition of Dickinson poetry for my fiance. I started with Folio Society but have looked at a lot of different presses.
I noticed that many fine printers specialise in the occult and esotericism, selling high quality and artisanal editions historical works in this vein.
Does anyone know if there’s a historical reason for the frequency with which is a focus for artisanal presses?

Black letter press is a good example of the occult focus as well.
Independent publishers with niche focus and a particular high-quality-scholastic-intellectual aesthetic, plus a small but potentially dedicated audience. What better genre of book for that?
