Suggest me a book for understanding why war crimes and other sadistic actions occur
I’ve just read Stephen Pinker’s Better Angels of our Nature and I’m currently reading The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang. I’d like to understand the psychological/biological causes on how/why sadistic attrocities occur.
Our Bodies Their Battlefield by Christina Lamb is less about the psychological causes but a similar book that goes into some whys and what war does to women.
I am following this thread because I would love to read books on this topic!

For a classic whodunit that defined detective fiction, ‘The Murder of Roger Ackroyd’ by Agatha Christie is my top recommendation. Christie’s clever plot twists and the unforgettable reveal make this a cornerstone of the genre. It’s a must-read for anyone who loves a good mystery and the thrill of the unexpected.
