First time on this sub, I’m a burnt out medical student who is going to be spending a good portion of the Christmas break on a remote island in a cabin just to get away from everyday routine and recalibrate life.
I want to take a good book with me to enjoy in that time, any suggestions?

What kind of books do you like?
A Short History of Nearly Everything – Bill Bryson
“The Blue Castle” by LM Montgomery features a small cabin on a remote island and a brutal winter storm.
All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot
If you need a funny pick me up, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened & Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson were both amazing reads. They are autobiographical and give you a glimpse behind the curtain of her unconventional childhood and adult life. Loved both of them.
I just finished my first read of The Shining and cannot recommend it enough. Also might read Masque of the Red Death beforehand since it references it a few times. 😉
‘At Least In The City Someone Would Hear Me Scream’ by Wade Rouse
‘Untamed’ by Glennon Doyle
‘Tell the Wolves I’m Home’ byCarol Rifka Brunt
‘Love Is A Mixtape’ by Rob Sheffield
