Not a romance book, but one with a good romance in addition to a good plot. I like the types of stories that have a really strong overall plot and some kind of love through adversity, or enemies to lovers, or some kind of slow burn. I liked the way the romance was built into the adventure plot of Song of Achillies, and The Hunger Games (but not the love triangle, I don’t really care for those), or even in the first Outlander book (the rest of the series became too melodramatic for me, but the first one was great!). Any suggestions?

‘Eleanor & Park’ by Rainbow Rowell is a young adult romance that captures the sweetness and intensity of first love. Set in the 1980s, it’s a story about two misfits finding solace and understanding in each other, and I always find it utterly authentic and touching.
