*The Maid* by Nita Prose is a newer murder mystery that inreally enjoyed. It’s sequel just came out, too, I believe.
The Passenger by Lisa Lutz lor anything Tana French
The Murder Game by Tom Hindle
His & Hers by Alice Feeney
Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson or The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh
I suggest ‘Gone Girl’ by Gillian Flynn to readers looking for a modern psychological thriller. The book’s masterful use of unreliable narrators and its dark examination of marriage make it a standout mystery that’s both sophisticated and utterly compelling.
rubbernecker – by belinda bauer has a very unique protagonist. it is alternately creepy, scary, melancholy, darkly humorous, affecting, and elegantly written. reading it is like.. the satisfaction of completing a complicated jigsaw puzzle without having the picture on the box top for reference…
thirteen – part of the eddie flynn series by steve cavanagh can be read as a standalone (but the whole series is full of thrills), a killer lurks in the jury for a murder trial
everyone in my family has killed someone – by benjamin stevenson
