So I randomly happened to come across this book and as a person who usually only reads classics set in an even more past era, this was quite refreshing. If you described the plot to me in a sentence or two I doubt I would’ve even bothered to pick up the book but the moment I opened it and read just one random page, I was mesmerized by it.
What I loved particularly in the book:
* Beautiful character design- not just the main characters but every single character is vivid and there is something to learn from each of them.
* Very thrilling and fast paced- the book is overall very fast paced and something interesting keeps happening.
* Lot of character development- we follow the characters from their birth and see them molded into their adult shapes and that makes it so easy to see each others’ motivations and desires and why they did what they did
* Racy and innuendo-ish moments- I enjoyed the way the female characters vividly described their feelings about whatever is happening and what they wanted especially in the initial stages of Catherine’s life where it feels more like a coming of age story.
* Segmentation of chapters are lovely- I thoroughly enjoyed the unique style in which the book puts one chapter for one character and the next for the other. I feel like this makes the book so much infinitely more interesting and cinematic in my imagination.(Note: this is not a requirement in the book recommendations I am looking for but merely an attempt at highlighting everything that captured me in this book)
* Plot- A non-negotiable in any book but honestly the plot in this book was out of this world for me. I would be sitting their reading with my jaw wide open at often times.
* ETA: ROMANCE- I thought I wasn’t a huge fan of romance but this book made me realize otherwise and I was thoroughly enchanted by the romance in it
