I’m craving a good old fashioned haunting!
-a killer plot/backstory where the MC(preferred FMC but open to MMC) has to search for clues/information on the ghost’s(or plural) gruesome past
-Haunting wise I want missing objects, found pictures, disembodied voices, visions of the past, disfigured apparitions, disturbing imagery, etc. Make me need a night light.
-Setting? Southern Gothic is where my mind tends to flow but I’m open to anywhere and any time period.
I read Jade Green by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor when I was younger and after homegirl found a hand on the attic stairs, I bounced. But we’re older now, had a little more trauma to make us extra desensitized that I’m ready to be scared again.👍🏻
Thanks in advance, yall!🖤

I recently read Old Country by Matt and Harrison Query. I found out it was based on a famous creepypasta, but don’t let that push you away.
It has two protagonists, one man and one woman. A couple moves to a small ranch in rural Idaho. There’s more to this ranch, however, on account of the valley being haunted by a sinister spirit.
It’s hard to say more without spoiling it, because that is the story, but there are definitely some creepy moments there. The male protagonist is kind of a bro. The type that probably listens to Joe Rogan and thinks Jordan Peterson “has some good points actually” but his wife is much better.
I’d give it a 3.75/5.0. Solid, fun read. If the authors publish anything else, I’ll get it.
I’m also looking for a haunted mansion / ghost story- but maybe not quite as scary as you are hoping for… 🫣
I just finished The Only One Left by Riley Sager- FMC, some gore, good history, old creepy mansion set in Maine. Look it up!
