..specifically ones where it’s not even remotely possible to figure out what’s REALLY going on, no matter how genre savvy the average reader may be. Home Before Dark has a couple twists near the end that legit came out of nowhere (in a good way) for me, so ever since that, I’ve been trying to find a book that packs a similar punch!

“Fingersmith” by Sarah Waters starts off as a twee little story of a thieving maid and a Victorian lady and goes off the rails in ways no one could expect. It’s best to go in blind, but there’s some triggery stuff, so let me know if you want low-spoiler warnings.
