I had 3 best friends in high school, back in 2008-2012. We met because all of our parents worked 9-4 or 5, but we were all within 2 miles of the school, so it was either walk all the way home or wait for our parents at the library after school. We were all nerdy kids, but there were so many kids with us from school that were the total opposite, playing cards or something with each other quietly or just hanging out in the lobby.
We used the computers, did homework, goofed around, laughed uncontrollably, and above all else, we would read! We always came back to the library so it was easy to turn our books in on time. And I’m sure the librarians loved us, no sarcasm there.
I just can’t imagine what my life would be like if libraries weren’t around for me. I really spent my whole childhood there.
Now I think I’ll finally hit up my new town library 😭
