I’m trying to find a book or short story similar to the game Strange Horticulture to read with my girlfriend. She played the game and really enjoyed the vibe and is interested in looking for stories of a similar vein.
For those who don’t know about it, Strange Horticulture is a game where you run a horticultural shop where clients are provided plants for medicinal and magical purposes. Most of the game centers around finding and identifying more plants for clients. However, a mystery starts unfolding through letters and characters that visit the shop involving a murder within a coven of witches and strange occult happenings, indicating more sinister things are afoot in the world outside the shop that the player gets more directly involved in as game progresses.
The story would ideally have a similar blend of the practical daily activities of a witch juxtaposed with an overarching story involving dark mysteries and intrigue. The former can even have some cozy vibes to it at times, but she doesn’t want to have the plot sacrificed in the details of the witch’s daily life.
