Because I’ve read many of Ludlum’s books (including the Bourne trilogy), the Red Sparrow trilogy, Deighton’s Berlin Game and the first in the Gray Man series, but the ones that I’m more attracted to were the stories in the S.A.S. series by Gérard de Villiers. I’m pretty sure it has to do with the erotic scenes.
So, I’m looking for some spy action (ideally from the Cold War era) that has some adult/explicit content in the same vein as de Villiers’ S.A.S. series.

Thanks for the recommendation on that. I like spy movies a lot but have only read a couple of spy novels. I like erotic stories too.
Any of the Sean Dillon books by Jack Higgins. As far as explicit content goes there’s a lot of people getting kneecapped. Not much sex and such though.
The Spy and the Traitor by Ben Macintyre
It’s non-fiction, but is very narrative-driven and reads like a story. Cold war + spies. Plus it’s a true story, which makes it all the better.
