Hi everyone! I recently got back into reading and have been flying through books. Here’s what I’ve read recently:
The Ritual – Adam Nevill
I enjoyed this book for the sense of dread, but I already loved the movie so I feel sort of biased.
The Boy Who Drew Monsters – Keith Donoghue
This one was okay. I had a hard time connecting to the characters, but enjoyed the ease of reading it.
The Woman in Black – Susan Hill
This is probably one of my favorite recent reads. The ending really got me.
The Troop – Nick Cutter
This book is phenomenal. I love that it jumps right into things.
The Elementals – Michael McDowell
I was really excited for this one, but outside of how much I loved the characters, I would say it was just okay.
I’m currently reading The House Next Door by Anne Rivers Siddons. I don’t love the suburbia tone but I think the plot is gearing up so I can’t speak to that yet.
I know these books are all quite different from each other, but I hope I can get some good recommendations! I love a good haunted house story and stay far away from post apocalyptic horror if that helps any.
I do have a lot on hold but the hold times are months out. Thanks for reading this far!

Last Days by Adam Nevill
The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp
The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Currently reading Black Mouth by Ronald Malfi. It’s eerie something about “Don’t tell you’re parents about me”. Just makes me uncomfortable lol.
Come with me by Ronald Malfi was also great but more thriller with some spooky aspect.
Ghost Eaters by Clay Chapman wasn’t too bad but didn’t freak me out just made me feel sad due to life situations.
“For a classic tale of terror that has stood the test of time, I always recommend ‘Dracula’ by Bram Stoker. This novel not only established many conventions of vampire fantasy but also offers a haunting exploration of Victorian anxieties and the unknown. It’s a must-read for its atmosphere and the timeless dread it evokes.”
