I’m thinking specifically about helping kids understand others with special needs or medical issues, but I’m open to anything that would help with general empathy.

Any age group from board books to teens is welcome.

    Thanks a lot!

    1. For a teenage audience I highly recommend Lucy Grealy’s memoir Autobiography of a Face over the treacle and not realistic mess that is the book Wonder. Lucy lost a considerable amount of her jaw from childhood cancer and grew up having to live with severe facial disfigurement and deal with the repercussions of people’s reactions to her. It is a brutal, painful story, but beautifully told as Grealy is a poet and has a mastery of language and impact with her words.
