This is a really specific request, but I’m looking for feminist novels that are retellings or are inspired (even if only partially) by classic literature with sexist undertones. Some examples are like Jean Rhys’ “Wide Sargasso Sea,” which is told from the perspective of Mr. Rochester’s wife prior to the events in “Jane Eyre.” Or even books like “My Dark Vanessa” by Kate Elizabeth Russell, which was inspired by Nabokov’s “Lolita.”
