I’m looking for any recommendations for fiction books with a very specific romance dynamic: straight male protagonist of lower station/means and straight female love interest of higher station/means. This typically involves disapproving parents or other associates. It doesn’t need to be a romance book, but have that plot line heavily featured.
If it helps at all, this is primarily inspired by the Matt Cruse trilogy by Kenneth Oppel. I re-read these books for nostalgia purposes every couple years and have always loved that dynamic. I would like to read something similar but perhaps a bit… spicier.
