Whenever I’m struggling to get reading again, I normally revert back to historical fiction which are always page-turners for me. This doesn’t need to be anything too high-brow, and things like The Last Kingdom, Sharpe, Young Bloods, and Flashman are some of my favourites.

I’m not too fussy about the time period, but I’d be grateful for any recommendations which might fit the bill.

Thanks

Kent family chronicles got me hooked on historical fiction when I was in junior high
The Aubrey-Maturin novels by Patrick O’Brian are excellent. They take place at the same time as the Sharpe novels (the Napoleonic wars), but focus on the British navy instead of the army.
