I recently watched the first episode of pluto and it left me sobbing. I loved North No.2’s story so much and was wondering if there are any books that have the same vibe/feel?

In case anyone hasn’t read/seen (which you 100% should instead of reading this) the story is about a robot (North No.2, who was built for war/as a weapon) becoming an old blind musician’s bulter.

The musician has been stuck on a piece he has been writing for years, and North finds he hums what he thinks is the missing part to his song in his sleep. He wishes to learn the piano for himself and to help but the musician refuses thinking he doesn’t have a soul and thus his music would be lifeless. North also has alot of trauma/guilt from the war; One of my favourite lines “Thats why I want to learn the piano, I don’t wish to belong on the battlefield”. Anyway they fight, North is fired and musician starts to miss him. After a few days North comes back and explains he went to the musician’s old childhood town and found the tune the musician had forgot. It ended up being a local folk song (I think) that he would sing with his mom before alot sad childhood stuff happened where he thought he was abandoned. Then they get closer and he teaches North to play the piano. Cue the saddest ending where the musician finally finishes his peice and before getting to show North, North gets killed and he can’t even tell/see. The final “Its time to come home North No.2, you’re late for piano practice” line destroyed me. I’m in desperate need of more writing/stories that leave me that way.
