    So I’ve recently found out that the romance genre needs to have a HEA. Is there a specific type of genre that has the same exact romance elements to it just without the HEA? Essentially, what do I search up if I’m specifically looking for something like that? I’m basically looking for a romance centered story where the FMC dies in the end which isn’t really common in romance genre.

    1. Love Story by Erich Segal is the original not-HEA novel. [if you don’t count Romeo and Juliet.]

      I don’t think [?] there is a particular name for this type of book, but you could try searching on Goodreads, they do nearly every genre there is.

    2. For those who, like me, don’t know all these acronyms being thrown around:

      HEA = “Happily ever after”.

      FMC = “Female main character”

    3. JellyPatient2038 on

      Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

      Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

      Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy

      A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks

      Search for Tragic Romance, Sad Romance, Dark Romance, Heroine Dies on Goodreads.
