Is anyone else frustrated by this growing trend? I have been an avid reader for a long time and I have never seen authors do this except in the last couple years. Personally I think it’s a trash trend and a shameless money grab, but didn’t know if it bothered other people. Do we know why it started? Is it coming from the author or the publishers? Do we think it’s going to get worse or is it just a phase?

I 100% believe it’s a money grab.
I know of one publishing house that compiled enough bonus chapters to make a book. To incentivize people to buy it they removed a couple chapters from what was supposed to be the final book in a series and moved it to the one with bonus chapters. It looks like they’re beginning to do it with other series and it annoys me. But if they keep profiting I doubt they’ll stop.
