I want a book with a character that doesn’t want to be part of the plot. A book where he just refuses to develope and remains the same character despite the events he’s been through, but in an intentional way.
Basically, a book about a character desperate for the things to be like they used to/to keep them how they are now. Or maybe just a book about refusing to grow up. Bonus points if it’s very melancholic.

It’s a big recurring theme for the main characters of the John Dies at the End books by Jason Pargin. Actually also in the Zoey Ashe books by the same author.
