most interested in non-fiction about 1950-present European:
\- armed conflicts, from skirmishes to wars
\- militia, guerilla, partisan or resistance groups that actively engaged in fighting their opponent
\- and military responses to the above
\- related politics that are digestible for a beginner (something along the lines of Yes, minister :D)
if fiction, then based on true stories and/or perfect research
for example, I’ve been reading Fry the rain by John West and liked it, esp. the IRA parts
