As the title says, I’m struggling to find a good horror book for my mother-in-law for Christmas. She loves horror and loves Stephen King and his son Joe Hill. She has just about every King and Hill book imaginable, and since I’m not too big on horror, I don’t know any authors that are like them. Any advice? Thanks everyone!

Peter Straub?
Try T. Kingfisher. She writes a ton if different genres. Her Horror books are:
*A House with Good Bones*
*The Twisted Ones*
*The Hollow Places*
*What Moves the Dead*
These are all standalones. I don’t read Horror but I understand from friends who do that *The Twisted Ones* has a jump-scare on the page, it’s that scary.
My husband and I read a lot of horror. He’s read *every* Stephen King book. I’ve read most of them. These are the books we’ve read with the most similar vibe:
Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz
Harvest Home by Thomas Tryon
The Elementals by Michael McDowell
The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson
The Troop by Nick Cutter
