After getting back into reading this year, I’m wanting to reread the books that made me the reader I am today for a bit of fun and nostalgia. I have compiled a list of ones that I have and have not read that I think are hallmarks of youth reading. I’m trying to get that feeling of being a young reader again and I want to make sure I hit every big series/standalone. So far and in no particular order I have: Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Twilight, Warrior Cats, Among the Hidden, Golden Compass, Alex Rider, The Giver, Divergent, Peter Pan, Series of Unfortunate Events, The Chronicles of Narnia (listening to this on audiobook before bed and its SO good), Alice in Wonderland, Eragon and The Umbrella Academy. I would love some more suggestions or books you feel fit in the iconic middle grade and/or YA role! I’m also open to newer series that are considered staples for young readers today! I’m very excited to get back to my reading roots and hope I can share that with others! Also bonus points if there are queer or otherwise inclusive ones, because I would have loved to have seen that as a kid!
