The Fraud by Zadie Smith: as a fan of Smith, this wasn’t one of her best. Feels like she got too wrapped up in the history and trying to wedge a bunch of themes in at the expense of her writing style.

Doppelganger by Naomi Klein: one of my favourite reads this year. Very informative look at the online world of conspiracy theory and how it’s starting to manifest as a sort of alternative reality.

The Wager by David Grann: riveting historical tale of shipwreck and mutiny, great fun.
