I love apocalyptic fiction, but I’ve grown tired of the tropes of lone survivors, constant violence, and cannibal raiders. What are some different tales?

I see why these tropes can be so compelling, but I also find them unrealistic. Humans are evolutionarily wired to create societies, even in the most dire circumstances. And those who band together best will surely outcompete those who don’t.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?
